Year 9 Girls Begin Galliford Try “Inspiring Females into Construction” Programme

We are thrilled to announce that a group of our Year 9 girls have started the Galliford Try “Inspiring Females into Construction” Programme – an exciting three-year initiative aimed at encouraging young women to consider careers in the construction industry.
The programme is designed to give students a unique insight into the construction sector through mentoring, career awareness, skill-building activities, and hands-on experiences. Over the next three years, our students will take part in a carefully structured programme that helps them develop both personally and professionally, building confidence and preparing them for future career opportunities.
In Year 1, the focus is on confidence building and understanding individual strengths. Students will be introduced to their mentors, learn about different career pathways, and take part in activities designed to help them communicate confidently and recognise their own potential.
Year 2 will see the girls engage in team-building exercises, STEM-related challenges, and problem-solving activities. They will also receive guidance on CV writing, interview techniques, and how to present themselves confidently to employers – skills that are invaluable no matter what career path they choose.
Finally, in Year 3, students will explore real career pathways within Galliford Try. They will learn about the company, the opportunities available, and how to apply for roles. With personalised interview preparation and support, the programme culminates in scheduled interviews for potential positions within the company – giving our students a real chance to step into the construction industry.
This programme not only provides practical skills and knowledge but also inspires our students to see the opportunities available in a sector where women are traditionally underrepresented. It encourages ambition, resilience, and leadership, helping to prepare our Year 9 girls for a wide range of future careers.
We are incredibly proud of all the students involved and look forward to supporting them on this exciting journey. Programmes like this highlight the importance of providing young women with guidance, mentorship, and opportunities to explore non-traditional career paths, and we are delighted to be part of it.
