Three Year7 athletes are set to showcase their talent on the national stage this weekend as Laura McWilliam, Sienna‑May Brown and Lucie Waterson travel to Gloucester to compete in the National U12 Championships.

Leadership that Inspires

Last week Laura and Sienna‑May were hand‑picked for their leadership and enthusiasm to represent both Great Sankey High School and WarringtonTown Netball Club at the Warrington School Sports “This Girl Can” festival held at Priestley College. Guiding 12 primary‑school groups through coaching sessions, the duo impressed everyone with their maturity, patience and infectious passion for the sport, earning glowing feedback from visiting schools.

“They are outstanding in their field and always represent town and school superbly,” said their performance coach Nicola Wright.

A Season of Silverware

Under Laura and Sienna‑May’s captaincy, the trio have enjoyed a stellar campaign in the ENG Youth Premier League – North, recording a series of eye‑catching results:

  • Silver medallistsCheshire County League
  • 4th placeGreater Manchester County League
  • ChampionsChorley Tournament (last weekend)
  • 4th placeManchester Thunder League

Their consistent excellence secured Warrington Town one of only four places available to northern teams—and just eight nationwide—at this weekend’s showpiece finals.

Eyes on England Honours

The journey doesn’t stop in Gloucester. Laura and Sienna‑May have also qualified for the ENG All Stars National trials in Walsall this June. Success there would see them pull on an England jersey at the prestigious International Cup later in the year.

More Than Netball

Somehow, the girls still find time to excel in other disciplines: Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, trampolining and dance all feature in their packed weekly schedule.

Good Luck, Girls!

Everyone at GreatSankey High School wishes Laura, Sienna‑May and Lucie the very best for the National Championships from Saturday10 to Sunday11May. We know you’ll do Warrington—and the whole North of England—proud.
