Junior Leadership Team: Pupil Voice in Action

At the start of each school year, applications open for our Junior Leadership Team (JLT), giving pupils the opportunity to take on a key role in shaping school life. Pupils must submit a detailed application, explaining what they would bring to the team, why the role is important, and what changes or improvements they would like to see. This year, as in previous years, we were thrilled to receive hundreds of applications across all year groups – a fantastic reflection of the enthusiasm and ambition of our pupils.
The Junior Leadership Team is a vital part of our school community. Its members meet fortnightly to discuss important issues, propose changes, and represent the views of the pupil body. The team plays a crucial role in improving school life for everyone. In the past, JLT members have made a real difference by influencing changes to school lunches, running incentive programmes, organising school trips, and contributing to other initiatives that enhance the overall experience for students. This year’s team will continue that tradition, bringing fresh ideas, energy, and commitment to their work.
We are delighted to introduce this year’s Junior Leadership Team:
Year 7: Dante & Louisa
Year 8: Beatrice & Alfie
Year 9: Lucy & Max
Year 10: Bradley & Anabel
Year 11: Head Boy: Jenson & Head Girl: Maya, joined by Miracle & Ben
Our Head Boy, Jenson, and Head Girl, Maya, not only completed the rigorous application process but were also interviewed, demonstrating their dedication and leadership potential. Both have already showcased their confidence and public speaking skills, delivering presentations in assemblies and speaking confidently in front of large audiences – a key part of the leadership role.
The Junior Leadership Team is more than just a title; it is a responsibility. Members are expected to listen to their peers, represent their views fairly, and actively contribute to decisions that impact school life. They are role models for their fellow pupils, demonstrating initiative, communication, and teamwork. The changes they have made and continue to make have a real and lasting impact on our school community.
We are incredibly proud of this year’s team and look forward to seeing the innovative ideas and positive changes they will bring. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and dedication make them an inspiring example of pupil leadership in action.
