We are proud to announce that we have retained our "Good" rating in our recent Ofsted inspection conducted in March 2023. The inspection team offered high praise to the school on many aspects of education provided for all our students.

The report highlighted the recent improvements to the behaviour system which have played a pivotal role in securing a purposeful environment in lessons, where pupils can learn without disruption. We recognise that this positive change has contributed significantly to the educational experience for all. Students, when speaking directly to the inspection team, told them they felt happy and safe in the school.

The report details that there is a well thought out curriculum in place for all students, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and that they achieve well. Leaders at the school have developed an ambitious curriculum spanning from Year 7 to Year 13, ensuring that all students receive an education that prepares them for their future. The school has a skilful and dedicated teaching staff and inspectors acknowledged their broad subject knowledge and their expertise that enables them to deliver the curriculum consistently well.

Headteacher Gary Evans commented, "I am delighted with the Ofsted inspectors' judgment that Great Sankey High School and Sixth Form continues to be ‘good’. I could not be more proud of the staff and students at this school. The great work of leaders at all levels, our dedicated staff, and our superb students is complimented throughout the report. We do not rest on our laurels and remain determined to continue the positive journey the school is on, to ensure the school makes the necessary improvements to secure an outstanding judgment at our next inspection."

In addition to academic achievements, the school places great emphasis on providing students with a holistic educational experience. Students benefit from a wide range of excursions, extra-curricular activities and experiences that enrich their learning journey throughout their school years, this is recognised in the report. The report also notes opportunities for students to join leadership panels and join a wide variety of clubs.

We are committed to building on our success and will continue to strive for improvement. The school community looks forward to the future with confidence, as it aims to provide an outstanding education for every student.
