Remote Access Instructions
Great Sankey High School is not responsible for personal devices or any effect these instructions may have upon them. You perform these actions entirely at your own risk.
Note: your username should always be entered in the following format
"grsankey\joe.bloggs".
Wireless Access
Access on the Guest wireless is limited to those users who have completed and returned the Wireless Access Policy (currently staff and sixth form only - available from IT Services or from the downloads page on the intranet).

Windows Users
Windows users can access the network externally and internally (on the Guest wireless) by using the following shortcut (saved to your desktop for ease of use).Users can also launch individual applications (rather than a full remote desktop session) by using the Application Portal.

MAC Users
MAC users can download the following application to remotely connect to the network (more info). When asked for a server name enter cortex.
The current version will not connect externally.

Linux Users
Most Linux distributions come with rdesktop (read more here).
This should allow remote access via the wireless, but has not been tested externally using Terminal Services Gateway.

Mail Application Users
You can configure mail applications to connect to the school mail system using a variety of methods.
If asked, enter mail.greatsankey.org as the server name and grsankey as the domain.

Mobile Users
You can configure your device to access school email using Exchange, POP3, IMAP4, MAPI or RPC.
Refer to the Mail Application instructions for further details.
