GENERAL EXAM INFORMATION
This year the awarding bodies have designated Wednesday 24th June 2020 as a ‘contingency day’ in to the common examination timetable. The purpose of this is to allow schools a day to re-schedule examinations that may have been postponed in the event of national or local disruption during the summer series.
This is not a school decision and does apply to all candidates in all schools. Should contingency day be enforced, and a candidate miss the exam, we would not be able to apply for special consideration and the candidate would score zero in the paper thus impacting their overall grade severely. Candidates must remain available until this date should an awarding body need to invoke its contingency plan.
The decision comes following tragic events, namely the Manchester attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire. The Joint Council for Qualifications have decided that they need the option to postpone an exam in the event of an incident and re-arrange for a later date to allow all students an equal and fair chance.

NOTICES TO CANDIDATES (JCQ DOCUMENTS)
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) oversees all aspects of examinations and assessments. Candidates must read the notices to candidates prior to starting any non-examination assessments, course work, onscreen tests or sitting examinations. This information has also been emailed to all Year 10 to Year 13 students.

RESULTS DAY AND POST RESULTS SERVICE
Results day can be very exciting and daunting in equal measures for some students. Great Sankey High School staff will be onsite to share this special moment and offer support and guidance.

If someone is collecting certificates or results on your behalf, please complete a Third Party Collection Form. Please ensure the person collecting has photo ID with them.
Certificates are only required to be kept for a minimum of 12 months. After this time, the school is able to destroy any uncollected certificates. We will aim, where possible, to keep them for 24 months. Please contact the Exams Officer to check if we still hold them, if we do not, information on obtaining replacement certificates can be found on: https://www.gov.uk/replacement-exam-certificate
Not all awarding bodies offer a replacement certificate service. In such circumstances the awarding body will issue a Certifying Statement of Results. Where either a replacement certificate or Certifying Statement of Results is issued, it will provide an accurate and complete record of results for all qualifications covered by the original certificate.
