From the CEO, Jon Wright NLE.
Welcome to the Great Sankey High School website, we are a Teaching School and a School Direct school but more importantly we are a school that is child-centred and one that believes that students come first.
Our ethos is about people, based on the individual, every student being of worth and valued by their community. Education here happens ‘with’ students and ‘for’ them, not ‘to’ them. We want every student to have the best school experience possible and to be inspired by the opportunities offered and the success they achieve.
We have nearly 2000 students from 11 – 18 years of age and our staff are dedicated to delivering an ever-changing curriculum in a vibrant and exciting way. Our young people are focused, determined and motivated to do the best they can do and tell us if we get it wrong.
Please do contact school if you require any further information.
From the Headteacher, Paula Crawley NLE
Dear Friends of Great Sankey High School
I take great pleasure in welcoming you to our website. I am immensely proud to be Headteacher at Great Sankey High School, our students are an absolute delight and it is our aim to continue to ensure that each and every child is supported to reach their full potential and beyond, helping them to develop their many talents – academic, sporting, musical or aesthetic so that they leave Great Sankey High School fully equipped to take an active role in their community.
I was delighted to receive numerous applications for the post of Head Boy and Head Girl. We were delighted to appoint Jonathan as Head Boy and Olivia as Head Girl ably supported by Chris our Deputy Head Boy and Aamina our Deputy Head Girl. – They along with our 12 House Captains help to develop our Student Leadership Teams. In addition we have Junior and Senior Prefects to support current leadership across the school.
We are a National Teaching School and our Executive Headteacher Jon Wright, a National Leader of Education works with our partners in Warrington and beyond to develop our Teaching School Alliance.
Our Sixth Form is a thriving learning environment with nearly 400 students. As well as a broad academic programme we offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities such as Mock Bar Trials and Extended Project Qualification, Duke of Edinburgh, Sports leader, Young enterprise and Pre Teacher Qualification.
We are very fortunate to have staff and governors who are passionate about our students and our school. The whole school community works hard together in order to achieve the best we possibly can, regardless of age or ability.
I hope you find the information available on the website useful and if you require any further information then please don’t hesitate to contact us.
I look forward to welcoming you to the school and working with you.
As our school says:
‘Great in name, greatest together’
With warm wishes
