Our mission statement:

To encourage learning in a caring and dynamic environment, enriched by our engineering status, so giving our learners the confidence to go forward and achieve their full potential, to the benefit of themselves and others within the global community.

Specialist Engineering College

We are a popular, oversubscribed school for boys and girls of all abilities aged 11 to 18 years. In September 2003, we were designated by the DfES as a Specialist Engineering College. Since then the school has been able to diversify and develop all subject areas, but in particular Mathematics, Science and Technology. We are fortunate to have industry standard resources within these departments.

The school has also developed many strong links with companies such as British Nuclear Group, Fiddlers Ferry, United Utilities, Faber Maunsell, Costain and Serco, to name a few, and organisations such as the Engineering Employers Federation, Institute of Directors, the CBI, University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University. Many of these organisations not only provide us with work experience placements, but actively look to sponsor learners through our Sixth Form, Barrow Hall College and University.
